The next stage of development for these children is to attend nursery school (pre-school).  Nursery school would enhance the children’s development, namely cognitive development and aspects of social behaviors such as independence, concentration, co-operation and sociability with peers.

At this stage, there is not a nursery school in Nakuru for the children to attend.

MIA’s goal is to provide full time quality care for orphans and to improve the welfare of the people in the community surrounding the orphanage.

Children cared for in the orphanage are provided with a safe environment, nutritional meals, health and medical care which meets their needs and an educational, stimulating environment.  This level of care is provided within the confines of the orphanage building and grounds.

Prior to being adopted by MIA, these children were ‘at risk’ of death or abuse.  Once taken in by MIA, their physical, mental and emotional health improves.  MIA is keen to further develop and educate the children to become the future leaders of the community.

To do this, the children require access to quality education, beginning with nursery school.

Project Description

This project plans to build a nursery school to cater for 60 children on land already purchased by MIA.

The nursery school would comprise two classrooms, an office, kitchen area, two storerooms and 6 toilet areas.

Goal

The goal of the project is to provide the 1st stage of a quality education for the children at the MIA orphanage.

Purpose

To improve the education opportunities and development of the children at MIA orphanage.
